The Beginning....(by Linsey)

Ready to make our mark in the real world after graduating college in 2007, Matt, from Glastonbury, CT and myself, from outside 

Philadelphia, Pa each found ourselves working in NYC.  A few years had gone by, living the life in the Big Apple before our chance meeting.  As fate would have it, that one cold night in January, I went along with some friends to a birthday party, not even knowing the guest of honor, let alone imagining that my future would forever be changed because of him. We found ourselves together again the following weekend celebrating my birthday! And every birthday since!  

 

 

The Proposal....(by Matt)

Blessing from Linsey’s parents…check.  Ring purchased…check.  plans mapped out - literally; families hiding behind the Statue in Central Park..we’re good to go!  The morning clouds decided to cooperate and went away.  The picnic plans were in place; wine and cheese packed; now what are the chances Linsey will be on time for once?  We lay out our blanket; I try to relax; but I can't stop sweating!  I've rehearsed this moment in my head a thousand times over the past few months.  I tell her I purchased tickets to see Shakespeare In the Park that night (hoping she agrees) and together we climb the steps of Belvedere Castle to take a photo. As we climb the stairs I find myself sweating…again and practicing my lines in my head but am becoming more and more distracted as Linsey wont’ stop asking to turn around because she left her Lululemon jacket on the picnic blanket.  It’s at this point that I start to think Lululemon is going to ruin my entire proposal!  Linsey races up the stairs and as per usual, I struggle to keep pace.  She gets to the top and begins to look over the wall to find her jacket.   In the meantime, our families have relocated themselves to our blanket and are keeping a watchful eye on the castle tower - the site of the proposal.  Linsey is starting to hyperventilate because she can’t find our blanket nor her jacket.  Just as she realizes those 8 people covering our blanket are our families, I drop back a few steps and get down on one knee, I open my mouth and I have absolutely no idea what came out of it next.  But, whatever it was, I love her more than anything and I want to spend forever and a day with her ---- and Linsey said YES!
